Description

Prams and pushchairs should be folded in the Subway. Unfortunately, because of space restrictions, it is not possible to accommodate large prams and pushchairs. Staff may ask customers to fold prams/pushchairs if they are too big or the system is busy. Glasgow Central and Argyle Street railway stations (for the Argyle Line) are both a short walk from St Enoch subway station, and most stations connect with bus routes.

There is a popular challenge known as the ‘subcrawl’, which involves visiting a pub at every subway stop around the line. We’ve reimagined the Glasgow Subway map as a Glasgow Pubway map revealing a picture of the city in all its different guises. It was known as Copland Road until 1977, and serves the district of Ibrox. The Ibrox Stadium is very close to this station.

The nearest bar to the St. Enoch stop, Times Square is a lot less grand than the name suggests, suited to a lunchtime pint of a karaoke session if you are brave enough. The Laurieston (Bridge Street) Original System: The original Glasgow Subway system consisted of a circular route, known as the Inner Circle, with two tunnels running in parallel. The tunnels were constructed using the cut-and-cover method, and the trains were initially steam-powered. Power is supplied to the system via 600 V sub-stations at five locations on the circle; [ citation needed] Broomloan Depot, Byres Road (Hillhead), Dundasvale (Cowcaddens), Bridge Street and Cornwall Street (Kinning Park). The system can still operate a full service (six trains per circle) with one of the sub-stations inoperative, in the event of maintenance or repair work.
