The 55OLED907’s potent picture mix is joined by a promising audio set -up. Running along the full width of the TV’s bottom edge is a felt-covered speaker enclosure that contains forward-facing drivers delivering the business end of an 80W, 3.1-channel sound system, supported by a trio of large low frequency drivers on the TV’s rear. As mentioned earlier, this speaker system has been designed in conjunction with Bowers & Wilkins – a collaboration that’s yielded some outstanding audio results on previous Philips TVs. The biggest step up comes from its brightness. We measured a decently sustained peak light output of nearly 870 nits on a white HDR window covering 10% of the 55-inch OLED807’s screen, which is around 100 nits up on the peak light output of the OLED806. This amounts to an almost 15% increase that can be keenly felt in both small bright highlights and full-screen brightness when watching HDR sources.

There are fans of Ambilight who swear by the technology, but if you’re a video purist who doesn’t fancy disco lighting behind the TV, there is another benefit. Ambilight offers a neutral white setting that acts as a bias light and has a number of key advantages, such as improving the perceived contrast, and also creates a more comfortable viewing experience at night. Philips OLED807 review: HDR performance Pretty much the only other negatives we can point out are that the new Ambient modes tend to leave the picture too dark (so should be turned off), and that the overall excellent noise reduction system Philips deploys with most of its out of the box presets can smooth filmic grain away. The Philips OLED807 certainly has a lot of competition this year - but we’d say it has more than enough unique qualities to stand out from the crowd. The 55OLED907 sounds almost miraculously good for a TV that accommodates its speaker set-up in such a compact design. The front-facing speakers behind the felt band below the screen are far more powerful than you’d think possible, pushing huge quantities of sonically charged air forwards into your room. This instantly delivers much more impact and directness than the majority of integrated TV sound systems. Size class of the display as declared by the manufacturer. Often this is the rounded value of the actual size of the diagonal in inches.Philips created 'The One' TV in 2019, pitching it as a mid-range model for mainstream TV buyers who want a decent, future-proof set at an affordable price. Precious few TVs at the OLED807’s price point carry a 70W audio system – never mind a 70W audio system with a dedicated bass speaker. It’s hardly surprising, then, to find that this Philips model sounds far better than the vast majority of other TVs in its class, despite the remarkable thinness that characterises much of its bodywork. Nothing beats the big screen thrill of IMAX and now, thanks to IMAX enhanced, you can enjoy the power of IMAX on your TV, too. Used with IMAX certified 4K HDR content, IMAX Enhanced uses their proprietary digital remastering technology (DMR) to deliver ultra-vivid images.

There are actually two game modes: Optimal and Optimal (Auto). The latter mode allows you to enjoy the benefits of VRR. In terms of other gaming features, there’s support for HGiG and Dolby Vision HDR gaming, along with cloud gaming via Geforce Now. This year, the company is going even further to bolster its gaming credentials with a new 'Game Bar' menu that allows gamers to tweak the picture whilst a game is in progress. The OLED807 even has presets for different genres of games (First-Person Shooter, Role-Playing Game, etc). Input lag for some models is said to be an exceptionally low 9ms. New 6th Gen P5 AI processor Approximate height of the display. If the manufacturer does not provide such information, the height is calculated from the diagonal and the aspect ratio.Max light output HDR (high dynamic range) while displaying a live scene and white square taking up 60% of the screen (measured in Nits) Panel aside, the 9507's feature set looks to be almost identical to that of the OLED807: four-sided Ambilight, 70W 2.1 speaker system, Android TV 11 and full support for HDR (including Dolby Vision, HDR 10+ and IMAX Enhanced). You also get the top-of-the-line gaming features, including HDMI 2.1, VRR and auto low latency.
