I actually didn’t know it would be a children’s book and I plan to gladly donate it to my local library who does not have a copy. However, on the few nights each month when the moon makes its journey to the other side of the world, her father is surrounded by total darkness. The details in the patterns making up the larger pictures, the colors shining on the dark pages, the way this all enhances the story itself.

Clearly, this explains why some stars form certain images while others seem to have been placed randomly in the sky.I just think that this is a good message aside from the intended use in this tale because good things can come from situations that are not ideal. In the story, a fisherman's daughter worries he won't be able to find his way home when the moon disappears, so the sun helps her to make the stars to guide him home. It tells her to place each shard into the night sky, where it will twinkle and glow, so that the fisherman will always have light to guide him home safely. The Fisherman's Daughter loves to dance in the Sunlight and bathe in the glow of the Moon, but when the Moon disappears for a few nights each month, she worries about her father and how he will find his way home from sea in the deep darkness. The sun takes pity on the girl and throws a golden ray of light down to earth, where it shatters into a million glittering pieces.

Bring out all the adjectives and accolades for the visually-stunning illustrations in this picture book. This beautifully illustrated story gives us a new folk tale, and a new way to look up at the night sky.

Fans of traditional tales will enjoy this story as will anyone who has ever gazed up into the sky in wonder at the impossible-to-count twinkling orbs high above them. The palette of rich reds, golden ochres and cool blues are set against a velvety black background, creating a stunning picture book that will make a treasured gift. There was just the right amount of choice to suit everyone without being overwhelming and I received comments from parents and staff about the quality of books offered compared to previous sales which have always been based around current crazes and well known celebrity authors. In this story, the sun sends down a ray of light that shatters, and the daughter is told to place them in the sky to provide light for her father. I haven't charted out my visits for the summer term, but I'm sure there are several in the south) and thanks so much for being so fantastic!

Each page is rich with detail and there are some amazing spreads, my favourite, one with all the animal shapes in the stars she has placed.

One night the sun finds her sobbing and so he takes one of his rays and smashes it onto the ground, creating the stars and gives the girl the task of putting them into the dark night sky. The Fisherman’s Daughter loved to dance in the sunlight, and bathe in the glow of the moon, but when the moon disappeared for a few nights each month, she worried about her father and how he would find his way home from the sea in the darkness of the night. Furthermore, her effort includes climbing higher and tighter toward Monkey when he smudges her sky star patterns. A beautifully designed, deluxe edition of Poonam Mistry's CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal shortlisted children’s book, with a newly illustrated cover printed on a satin silk finish book cloth, with gold detailing and edges. I'm not sure I would give five stars to the story itself, but with the illustrations I really can't do anything but give a five star rating.

Therefore, Bookwagon is delighted to read and recommend another title by this distinct and wonderful creator. When I encountered Poonam Mistry's art for the first time in You're Snug with Me, I knew I had found a new favorite illustrator and quickly tracked down all her books in my library district. Your words, like your reviews, bring books to life and give them a voice before the front cover is even turned. The illustrations are so vibrant and beautifully woven together with the relatively simple story of a girl placing stars in the sky to guide her father home. If you love the cover art, don't hesitate to check out this book -- or anything illustrated by this mega-talented artist! You guys were so fab and Dawn was such a lovely presence in the schools - I will absolutely be in touch next time I'm in your neck of the woods. Therefore, this story would be helpful for illustrating to children that when a great deal of effort and care is put into a project or activity, there are great rewards.
