The thing that touched me most within this wonderful novel was the opportunity to hear the stories behind all those effected by war along with the refugees and the impact they had on the locals. It was obvious she was up to something and the movie was a cover to distract her 13- year old sister, Olive, our story teller, and their younger brother, Cliff.

My main critique is that the pace of the book seems to soar at some points meaning particular sections feel rushed.There are some true heart-in-your-mouth moments and heavily moving parts that make it so difficult to put it down. If you haven't read any Carroll books before then you need to add them all to your reading list right now. In addition to coping with the changes to her circumstances Olive is determined to solve the mystery and secrets linked to the disappearance of her sister, Sukie. I recommend it to anyone who’s into history or likes a gripping, mysterious and emotion mixing adventure of a story. Desperate to be helpful, Olive becomes his post-girl, carrying secret messages (as she likes to think of the letters) to the villagers.

Letters From The Lighthouse is a middle-grade historical fiction novel that I really enjoyed reading! A main focus of the story is the growing friendship between Olive and a Jewish refugee named Esther.The Letters From the Lighthouse’ is an amazing story of a girl and her brother trying to solve the mystery of their missing sister, Suzie. After months of air raid bombings in London, Olive and Cliff are evacuated to the Devon coast for their safety.
