Description

I love being able to use up scraps of wood for something purposeful. It’s satisfying to put to use ‘extras’ that you’ve saved in the past, not to mention, being able to make something for almost nothing! If you have the room, save those scraps, you never know when they will come in handy. These DIY Wooden Pumpkins are a fun weekend craft you can do with things you probably already have on hand! HERE’S A FUN POST WITH SO MANY IDEAS ON HOW TO USE THAT SCRAP WOOD! EASY DIY FALL DECOR IDEAS

Remember those holes you drilled earlier? Now it’s time to put them to use! Simply insert a dowel or other small piece of wood into each hole and glue it in place. This will serve as your pumpkin’s handle. Try to make sure they are even on each side. Once the body is assembled, you can now attach the lid. To do this, simply glue the two pieces that form the lid onto the top of the pumpkin’s body. Make sure that the holes you drilled earlier are aligned with each other so that you can insert the handle later on. While the glue is drying, you can start making your handle.

What Supplies Do I Need to Make a Wooden Pumpkin?

In this blog post, we will provide detailed instructions on how to make wooden pumpkins of various sizes that will look great indoors or outdoors. Follow along as we give step-by-step directions for cutting wood, assembling the pieces together, and staining your pumpkin creations. Get ready to transform those bare walls and empty corners of your home into something magical! Which Wood Is Better for Making Pumpkin? For staining, you can use any wood finish of your choice to give the pumpkin a natural look. Once finished with the paint or stain, seal the pumpkin with a clear finish to protect it from the elements. However, if you want to take it a step further, consider adding some decorative details like a stem or leaf to make your pumpkin stand out. So get creative and have fun with it! 8. Add a Handle Once you have the right wood chosen and cut to size, it’s time to start sanding. Start with coarse-grit sandpaper and work your way up to finer grits until the surface is smooth. This step is important because it helps get rid of any rough edges that could snag when painting or carving later on. After the wood is sanded, use a damp cloth to wipe away any excess sawdust before continuing on with the next steps! What Tools & Supplies You’ll Need? Turn your scrap wood or pallet woodpile into wooden pumpkin decor this fall with these amazing DIY wooden pumpkin ideas!

After your glue has dried you are ready to adorn with the raffia and wire embellishments. To get the wire curled, simply wrap around the end of one of your sponge brushes. Do you want to add a special touch to your home decor this fall? Creating wooden pumpkins is the perfect way to add some rustic charm and bring life into your home. Even if you don’t consider yourself very crafty, these diy wooden pumpkins are surprisingly easy to make with just a few tools!Next, you’ll need to drill two holes into one of the pieces that will form the lid. These holes will be used to attach the handle later on. Drill one hole on each side of the top piece, making sure that they are positioned symmetrically. The holes should be about an inch from the top of the lid. See the end of this post to print out the full tutorial with detailed steps and a supply list. Supply List Let’s have a chat about the materials and tools that you will need if you want to make this pumpkin craft. The pumpkins in the trio look so pretty for your dining room or mantle for fall. If your woodcuts have any rough spots, use sandpaper to smooth your wood. This is one of the easiest and most inexpensive crafts I have ever made. You are ready to begin as soon as you decided what paint, stem, leaves, and bow you will be using. 1. Sanding and Painting the Wood

The first place to look for “free” wood is in your wood scrap pile. You can use 2×4 or 4×4 for this project. Your local hardware store also has a scrap pile, so be sure to ask them about it. I’ll give basic instructions and then show several pictures of the process below. Hope you will try making them and adding them to your fall decor this year! SUPPLIES NEEDED:glue {we use a glue gun for our projects at the shop but we include this super strong glue in this craft kit}
