Developer Hexworks has issued a long list of updates to its Soulslike following its October 13 launch, improving performance, stability, and optimisation, and making significant balance changes. Enemy density has been “extensively” re-proportioned throughout the game, with some enemies seeing up to 30% fewer foes. Other balance tweaks including reducing the accuracy of ranged enemies at long distance, and improving enemy leashing to players aren’t pursued as far, thereby reducing overwhelming mob clashes. Journey across two expansive, parallel worlds in your epic quest to overthrow Adyr. While the living realm presents its own brutal challenges, untold terrors lurk in the nightmarish realm of the dead. The new Lords of the Fallen is set in a world that’s five times larger than the 2014 installment. It’s divided into two parallel worlds, that of the living and that of the dead. You carry a lantern that can give you a glimpse into the other world, where you might find treasure or enemies. At the beginning of the game, players can create and customize their own player avatar, and choose from one of nine character classes. [2] The game is set in an interconnected world, one that is several times bigger than that from the 2014 game. In this game, two worlds are layered on top of each other. The world of Axiom is the realm of the living, but players can use a magical lantern to access Umbral, the realm of the dead. Despite sharing the same physical space, an inaccessible area in one realm may be reached by visiting the other realm. When the player is killed, they will be transported to Umbral in which they must return to Axiom and retrieve lost experience points. When the player is killed in the Umbral realm, they will respawn in their last savepoint and lose their unspent XPs. Savepoints are far and few in each region, though players can craft their own savepoints using materials collected from Umbral monsters. [3] Development/Release edit Greetings Lampbearer. Lords of the Fallen, a reboot/sequel to the 2014 Souls-like of the same name, launched in October to strong critical and commercial reception, selling one million copies in its first 10 days on sale. In our 8/10 review, IGN said: "Lords of the Fallen is an awesome Souls-like with a fantastic dual-realities premise, even when performance shortcomings and wimpy bosses crash the party." As already announced, developer Hexworks recently finalised a complete overhaul to all bosses in the game “to ensure they are suitably challenging at that point in the player’s journey”. To this end, AI has been significantly improved, many bosses now have additional and more aggressive movesets, and hit points and damage outputs have been rebalanced.Purchese, Robert (May 29, 2015).
